About
The Author

David Alexander was born in Fresno, California in 1960, the third of four sons of James D. and Effie L. Alexander Jr. After his parents divorced when David was twelve years old, he left to live with his mother and two other brothers Mike and Doug in Boise, Idaho shortly after his father remarried. Parts of his childhood were spent in the family home in Clovis, California, in a housing tract, near the intersection of Shaw Ave. and Peach Ave., one year was spent in Fresno, California, at Tarpey Village, located in the North East part of town, at the intersection of Clovis Ave. and Ashlan Ave. At Thirteen, David left his father's home to live with his mother who by this time had remarried to a man from Boise, Idaho. His father James Jr. was involved with the Tool & Dye trade for most of his life, while his mother worked various secretarial jobs. David's father was born in Rhode Island, and grew up in the Carolina's with his sister Patricia before he left for California at the age of 14. That year, his father, James D. Alexander Sr. passed away, and James Jr. ran away eventually joining the US Navy, lying about his age in order to get enlisted. After a three year stint as a Petty Officer, he made a new home for himself in Fresno, CA, where at a friends birthday party, he met David's mother. The two were soon married, and had four sons; in order, J. Duffie III, Michael, David and Douglas. James Jr. and Effie's divorce was bitter, leaving long-lasting scars for all involved, the last time the four sons were ever all together in the same room, under the same roof, was just after Thanksgiving day 1974, when David was badly burned while spending the fall of 1974 on his grandparents farm in rural Louisiana.

David attended two grammar schools in Clovis, CA at Clovis M. Cole Elementary, (Go Bulldogs!) and Jefferson Elementary, (Go Bluejays!) Junior High was split between Clark Intermediate School, (Home of the Chieftains!) in Clovis, CA, and East Junior High, (Home of the Hornets!) in Boise, Idaho. High School began at Boise High, (Home of the Braves!) Boise, Idaho, finishing up at Clovis High, (Home of the Cougars!) Clovis, CA when his mother and younger brother Doug moved back to Clovis, CA in 1977, finishing in 1978.

David was always labeled a daydreamer on his report cards by his teachers, and thought himself to be of a wanderer's blood from an early age. Quoting J.R.R.Tolkien, "Not all those who wander are lost." Always believing that the best education in life was attained through travel, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures, he has since traveled extensively throughout South America and Europe, United States, Mexico and Canada.

There have been a number of character-shaping events in his life, the first of which was when he was burned in a fire on his grandparents farm in 1974. Having been a shy, introverted individual up to that point, when he turned fifteen, he had had enough of the teasing and ridicule at school, which was the main catalyst for developing healthier, stronger self-esteem, which proved to aid in his success as a business man in his adult years.

Another major character shaping event in his life, was venturing out on his own, to work with Storm Water Permit holders. Beginning to work in the Los Angeles area, through nearly fifteen years of consulting work, and developing Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, he soon branched out to nine of the twelve designated Watershed Regions throughout the entire State of California. It was during these years, David gained a better understanding of how Federal, State and Local Government in this country actually works. Soon discovering that everything he ever learned referring to how Government works in the textbooks in school was bunk, and that they should all be thrown in the trash. His experience taught him that Government is self-serving, wasteful, unflexible and corrupt, and at the time he closed up shop working with the Storm Water Program, the State of California admitted that the program showed little to no positive results.

David is of Scots-Irish/Cherokee ancestry, stands 5'9" and weighs about 190 pounds. He is green-eyed, fair-skinned, and has brown hair, with a frost of white most noticeable in his beard, which he has worn since his days living in Chile selling used clothing, without shaving it off.
